Avatar the movie

We saw the extended trailer for Avatar during the commercial break of something. My first thought? I've seen this movie before, it's called Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest, only perhaps without the singing bat.

Yo, the name is Batty
The logic is erratic,
Potato in a jacket,
Toys in the attic,
I rock and I ramble,
My brain is scrambled,
Rap like an animal, but I'm a mammal.

All of are cosmetics are non-carcinogenic.

I been brain-fried, electrified, infected and injectified,
Vivisectified and fed pesticides,
My face is all cut up
My radar's all shut up
Nurse-
Yes?
-I need a check-up from the neck up,
I'm Batty.

It seems to have no effect doctor.

They used and abused me,
Battered and bruised me,
Red wires, green wires, stuck em' right through me,
So hear my Batty word,
And exercise a little prudence,
When dealing with humans.

Phone call, Mr. Darwin, phone call...

All the graduate students please move closer...

Scapel, more nitrous oxide...

The eye makeup when inserted rectally seems to have some effect...

Remove the brain cap...

You notice by dipping the bat in a series of pain...

After six hundred packs of cigarettes the animal seems to exhibit some effects...

I said orally...

Oh my god, I'm reading by my genitals...

Insert the electro... we're losing him!

Seems to have no effect doctor...

Wait, get me another one... get me another animal!

Look professor they dance up and down just like Elvis...

Fine, strap him down. If he moves medicate him, medicate him, medicate me!

It seems to have no effect doctor.
Thank you nurse. Why don't you ever call me?

Doesn't seem like animals comprehend any pain,
They just get used to it!

Cause I'm a real fruit bat and I'm ready to rap,
I'm ready to snap,
I suffer from sciatica and chapped lips.
And jock itch!
Like a rocket in my pocket and a need to scratch, ow!
But now I can't stop it,
I'm Batty
I'm Batty
I'm a real fruit bat and my logic is erratic,
I'm Batty.

Its my batty rap
Shave his head, you idiot, it's just and animal!
My batty rap..
If you just take a little off the sides, oh! Ack!
My batty rap.
Who's Batty? Moi.

In AkuDan heaven

I am behind in my New Prince of Tennis reading and am now catching up, and I found squee! And Dan, like I said would happen, but that's not what the squee is for -

Chapter 12 indicated that Akutsu went to that school/camp/whatever that Banji-san was trying to get him to go to, the one Banji-san gave the information to Ryukia-san for Tezuka!

*flail*

And THEN, in Chapter fifteen, Dan has a good luck charm for Akutsu that Akutsu actually rips the fence to accept.

*flail*

*flail*

*Big Sigh*

Y'know, I reckon there's a reason people go about birthin' babies the ol' fashioned way.

We've been cleaning our house for a full month now and we keep finding more crap to do. Our home study, for which said house cleaning needs to be done, is set for November 5th and I'm all /flail. I cannot wait for this home study to be completed for us to go back to our apparently messy lives. I mean, who knew I had so many dang books? And furniture? And lightbulbs? Not to mention what has accumulated in the Man's hardware and lumber store that masquerades as the garage/workshop/basement.

And -then- there's still the possibility that we'll do all of this and still won't get licensed to adopt. Gah!

(I am awed by some of the crap I've found that I didn't know I'd even had, like this really awesome NatGeo sattelite poster of the earth at night, where you can see ALL THE LIGHTS from the cities. So going to frame that and put it up somewhere.)

Randomly waves to 'Dawid' in case he's reading.

Random Things in the Life of Me

1. Our basement no longer resembles a wood factory, but an actual basement again.
2. My parents kick ass for helping accomplish that basement feat.
3. Our oven went kaput.
4. Most of our dinners are made with the oven.
5. Naturally, the oven cannot be fixed until Friday.
6. But at least it should be fixed before Friday night date night.
7. We are halfway through our adoption classes.
8. But we are only a quarter of the way through the pounds of paperwork.
9. I cannot stop roleplaying in EQ2.
10. EQ2 is a hotbed of slash and kink, which explains a lot.
11. And it satisfies my creative writing, er, juices.
12. So life, right now, is whee.

I get out the card, dial the number on the back, and get this automated response:

"Hello, boys. Are you looking for some hot, horny girls? Well, you've dialed the right number."

*hangs up quickly*
*giggles*
*blushes*
OMG!
Movie: HP 6

I finally got to watch Half-Blood Prince and imagine my surprise that I liked it more than book six - and book six is my second favorite book in the series.

The writers did a very good job at laying out the main plot, to me, which showed us just a bit of Tom Riddle's life before the Slughorn-tampered memory, and then Harry's retrieval of the real memory that started the horcrux plot. It feels like the search for the horcruxes will be much better written than book seven.

The lack of Snape buildup for his heroicism wasn't the best, but again if the writers are smart they'll do it in the two part seven movie. I did like how Harry did as Dumbledore instructed and trusted Snape until Snape AK'd Dumbledore. All the movies combined really lean towards Snape being on Team Evil and thus those who've only seen the movies may think that and be pleasantly surprised by the end.

Even Draco's part, though also better in the book, was well crafted. The drama wasn't heavy enough with the Narcissa part to give weight to Draco's motivations, but it redeemed itself in the final confrontation with TF's performance and dialog that his actions were based on fear. That Harry verbally noted that Draco was lowering his wand sets up a better Draco/Harry scene with Draco's not identifying him and sews the seeds of compassion. I hope they play that out a little with the Draco rescue from the fire/diadem scene (if it's included) and give Draco that chance to firmly choose Team Good that book six had set up and book seven utterly failed to do.

Finally, and most surprising and I applaud it, is the Harry/Ginny romance was not only believable, it was adorably young high schoolers. The actress who plays Ginny blossomed herself between movie five and six, which helped sell Harry's sudden "whoa, my best friend's sister is hot" that is true to life. The romance built naturally through the movie - no chest monsters here - and also didn't overshadow the main plot. Even the Tonks/Remus thing was so much better, because it was simply there without all the stupid Tonks angst.

So, overall, I am very impressed with the writers of this movie, and I am quite fine with the Burrow being torched because I'd rather they continue in the direction of "based on the series" and change a lot more of book seven that made many of us go ugh! while still keeping the spirit of the story alive.

FYI, Tijuana is nothing but pharmacies and dentists in case you were in need of either at a very discount rate.

Currently at the Int'l San Diego Comic Con, the only place with internet, waiting on titti to find me. I have free schwag, a sore foot, and bad pictures which I shall share when I get home. Comicon so far so good. I've liked all the panels I've gone to and the previews I've seen, including Vampire Diaries (very CW), Legend of the Seeker s2 (begins in November), and the last unaired episode of The Middleman (table read with hilarity by the entire cast).

Now I shall sanitize my hands once again, eat my bagged dinner of cheesy poofs, apple sauce, and bagels, and prep for more to come.

More My Job Is Jerry Springer Live

Perhaps in hotter weather the deal would have made more sense, but an Indiana woman's offer of her above-ground pool and $200 in gas money just wasn't enough to lure an undercover FBI agent into a plot to kill the Hoosier's ex-boyfriend.

Heidi Friedburg, 30, and her current boyfriend, William C. Alexander, 31, of New Carlisle, Ind., were arrested Monday as they unloaded Friedburg's disassembled swimming pool to seal the deal with the would-be hit man in a south suburban parking lot, Chicago Breaking News Center reported.

Ross Rice, the FBI spokesman in Chicago, said he believed it was the first murder-for-hire case that began with text messages -- and without a doubt the first time a pool had been offered as payment.

"How low can we go?" Rice wondered aloud.

The swimming pool, he said, had been seized as evidence.

-from nbc.chicago

And here they were bitching in court just last month that we were taking her children away. I wonder why?

I usually don't do ABC Felony court, only D Felony Thefts, Batterers, and Drunk Drivers, but because of the holiday upcoming we did a few initial hearings for the Big Criminal Court and, joy of joys, we had a 51yo guy who'd just got arrested for raping his mother.

0.0

Merlin on NBC in Entertainment Weekly

To the TV Guide reviewer gave Merlin low ratings, but Adam Markovitz of Entertainment Weekly has this to say:

NBC's new medieval adventure poses a question that has no doubt been puzzling Arthurian scholars fofr centuries: What if Merlin, the bearded old wizard, was actually way hot? The rollicking U.K. import is more O.C. than Camelot, reimagining its hero as a young undercover warlock working as a manservant for the cocky Prince Arthur. Cheesy? Sure. But there's enough sword-clanging action -- not to mention homeoerotic tension -- to keep viewers happily entertained for a spell. (B+)

I'm surprised they didn't compare it to first season Clex. *g*

It's going to be 105* today with the heat index and humidity. It'll feel like getting slapped with a sticky, wet towel in the face the moment you step outside. Which means it'll only be 101* in our air-conditionless house.

joy

Eyeshield 21 Ends

Alas, Eyesheild 21 has come to an end and it, like PoT, was worth every sports second (even though we never did get to find out about Hirima's dad). Jyumonji ended up being my favorite character with Hirima the insane second. I thoroughly enjoyed its run. One can only hope that the manga-ka will write a side story like The New Prince of Tennis!

If you're reading this, thank goodness you're still alive

I'm here in my basement, using up the last few minutes on my dying laptop battery to tell you you're not alone. Movement seems to draw their attention, so try to get somewhere with as few windows as possible. I've got well water and a toilet and I can only hope that the main power doesn't go down. I've been listening to the news on the emergency radio and it's not good. They're everywhere, multiplying like rats, spreading their infection like a plague. Do not go outside. Do not draw their attention. Stay safe. And remember, you're not alone.

For now.

Thriller Bark fully subbed

One Piece Thriller Bark arc is fully subbed, and has been for quite a while now. I am a shamed One Piece fan for not checking for months, when I've been waiting for the entire arc to be subbed to watch.

But it is subbed, and thus I need to have a fifty-five episode(!) marathon. Good thing it's a holiday weekend.
